Privacy, in plain words
What “uploaded” normally means. On most online converters, pressing the button copies your file across the internet onto a computer owned by that website. That copy is what the word “upload” means, and it is the part nobody explains.
What happens instead. This site does not do it. There is no server here that receives files, so your TTF file is read, converted and handed back by the browser you are using right now. It never travels — so there is no copy to store, read, leak or hand over.

A font is licensed rather than owned, and the licence usually says something specific about copies. It matters more than it sounds, because of what font files usually are:
Client brand assets
held by you under an agreement with somebody else
Unreleased type designs
a designer's work before it goes on sale
Foundry trial fonts
explicitly licensed for evaluation only
Fonts with embedded metadata
which names the licensee inside the file
A file that is never sent cannot be kept, leaked, subpoenaed or used to train anything. That is a property of how this works, not a promise about how carefully it is run.
TrueType describes glyph outlines with quadratic curves and includes hinting instructions that improve rendering at small sizes on low-resolution screens.
WOFF2 uses Brotli compression, producing web fonts roughly 30% smaller than WOFF. It is the format every current browser prefers.
The two formats solve different problems, which is why converting between them involves trade-offs rather than a straight upgrade.

People make this switch when they run into the limits of TTF: serving fonts on a website — WOFF2 is far smaller. WOFF2 is the better fit when serving fonts on any modern website.
Both formats store the content without discarding data, so this conversion preserves it exactly. The file size may change because the two formats compress differently, but the content itself is unaffected.
The WOFF2 came out 3.1× smaller than the file that went in.
