The plan structure exists in the codebase so limits can be enforced later without reworking the application.
FAQ
Pricing questions
Is the free tier a trial?
No. Everything described under Free works right now, permanently, without an account. There is no watermark, no artificial delay and no daily cap. That is possible because the conversions run on your computer rather than on servers we would have to pay for.
Why are Pro and Business marked as not available?
Because they genuinely are not built. Payments are not integrated, there is no billing system, and the server-side conversion workers those tiers depend on are not deployed. Showing a checkout that does nothing would be dishonest, so the buttons are disabled and labelled.
What would actually justify a paid tier?
Work a browser cannot do well: multi-gigabyte video, legacy binary Office formats that need LibreOffice, hardware-accelerated encoding, and an API other software can call. Those all require servers, and servers cost money. Anything that works in a browser stays free.
Will the free converters get worse when paid tiers launch?
There is no plan to remove anything from the free tier or to add watermarks. The paid tiers are meant to add capabilities that do not exist today, not to take away ones that do.
