Compatibility: All modern browsers. Some older desktop apps can't open it.

JPG cannot store transparency, so anything see-through is filled with the matte colour rather than silently turned black. It is also lossy: converting a PNG screenshot to JPG will soften the text, and converting back will not bring it back.
