What “uploaded” normally means. On most online converters, pressing the button copies your file across the internet onto a computer owned by that website. That copy is what the word “upload” means, and it is the part nobody explains.

What happens instead. This site does not do it. There is no server here that receives files, so your image is read, converted and handed back by the browser you are using right now. It never travels — so there is no copy to store, read, leak or hand over.

Why this matters more than it sounds

Photographs carry more than what is in the frame — most also carry the time, the device and often the GPS coordinates where they were taken. It matters more than it sounds, because of what images usually are:

How Convert from JPG works

Take a JPG to PNG, WebP or another format. Everything happens inside this page: the file is read from your device into memory, processed there, and handed back as a download. It is never sent anywhere, and closing the tab discards it.

What it accepts: JPG. Files are identified by their contents rather than their name, so a mislabelled file is still handled correctly.
What you get back: A PNG file, downloaded straight to your device.
What happens to the data: Nothing is re-encoded. The content that comes out is identical to the content that went in, byte for byte, and running it twice changes nothing.
Size limit: Up to 120 MB per file. Because the work happens on your own machine, available memory is the real constraint — a laptop handles far more than a phone.

The settings, and what each one changes

Convert from JPG exposes 2 settings. The defaults are chosen to suit the common case, so changing nothing is a reasonable way to start.

Quality: Higher keeps more detail but produces a larger file.
Remove EXIF and location data: Re-encoding drops camera, GPS and editing history by default.

Worth knowing before you start

Nothing here recovers what JPG already discarded — a PNG made from a JPG is a lossless copy of a lossy picture, not a better one. It is worth doing to stop further generations of loss, to gain transparency you are about to add, or because something you are using will not accept a JPG.
